2048

2048 is a number puzzle created in 2014 that became a worldwide phenomenon. The goal is to slide tiles around a 4x4 board and combine tiles with matching values until you create the 2048 tile—but experienced players can go much further, reaching 4096 and even 8192.

This version is free, runs right in your browser, and works well on phones with swipe controls. Its retro pixelated look and neon colors make every tile merge even more satisfying.

The most effective strategy is to choose a corner and never abandon it: keep your largest tile fixed there, move in only three directions, and build a descending staircase of values along the first row. Avoiding random moves is the key to high scores.
